This or That #7 - Clarifying Shampoos

If you use dry shampoo like I do, you know that sometimes you just need a good clarifying shampoo. One that gets rid of all that buildup in your roots, and makes your scalp feel all clean and tingly again.

My regular and go to clarifying shampoo used to be Neutrogena. They had a great clear shampoo that worked awesome without being too harsh on your hair. But unfortunately I can no longer find it. So I've been on the hunt for a new favorite and have tried out two kinds.

Herbal Essences Clarifying Conditioner

Pros:
-It's a conditioner, so it's more gentle on my hair.
-Smells really great, like all Herbal Essences products.
-Very affordable.

Cons:
-Doesn't lather well, which makes you need to use more.
-Doesn't feel as clean as I would like after using it.

Clairol Hair Food Clarifying Shampoo

Pros:
-Makes my hair feel really clean.
-Lathers really well.
-Affordable and available at Target.

Cons:
-Has a good smell, just not very strong.

Between the two of these products, I would definitely go with the Clairol. It feels like it actually gets the job done, and gets rid of all that build up. I do love that both are "pumps" for dispensers, and that both are on the cheaper side of products. But in the end, the Clairol works the best!

Do you have a clarifying product that you use?

  2. For as much dry shampoo that I use on a daily basis, I probably should be using a clarifying shampoo a few times a week. Thanks for the recommendations - I'm headed to Target today and definitely will be taking a closer look at the Clairol one!

  3. I try and mix up the shampoos and conditioners I use every once in awhile so my hair doesn't get used to one brand. I will look into that shampoo because I'm not big on strong scents so that wouldn't be a con for me!

  9. I'm a big fan of clarifying shampoos when I've been using a lot of dry shampoo or styling products, my favourite is the Neutrogena one since I can get a huge size of it at Costco that lasts me forever!

  10. The Clariol one definitely sounds like the better of the two, although I like that they both have pumps as well!
