I am back today with the this or that series! Hairsprays are the topic! I always feel like there is room for improvement with hair sprays, but maybe that's just me and my fine thin hair. But I compared my tried and true that I've been using for months with a new kind that I just picked up.
Pros:
---> It's affordable, and comes in a big jar
---> It smells okay, not great, but okay
---> Holds well and for a while
---> Available at drugstores
Cons:
---> When not used for teasing, gives a stiff look
This brand has actually worked pretty well for me. It works great for teasing, and holds my fine hair pretty well and for a decent amount of time. It's also a huge plus that I can get this at CVS or Meijer and not have to go to a Sephora. I can't say I love all items from this brand, but the hairspray does a pretty decent job with teasing.
Pros:
--->Smells amazing
---> Doesn't give a stiff apperance
---> Has many different formulas and holds
---> Doesn't take a lot to use
Cons:
---> Doesn't hold as well with teasing
---> More expensive
---> Available at Ulta or Sephora
I was so impressed with the smell of this, I loved it! It worked great for keeping my styles in place, but didn't hold as well when I wanted to use it for teasing. It's also much more expensive - hence why I tried out the travel size first.
Overall, I think I'll end up using a mixture of both. It really depends on what you want to do with your hair. To tease, I will definitely keep using Not Your Mother's. For holding styles in place I'll use the Kenra. I would like to try a stronger hold of the Kenra and see how I like it, so watch out for that! For now, I would recommend either one for you to try!
What is your favorite hair spray brand?
I've actually never heard of the Kenra brand so thanks for sharing that review!! I don't normally tease my hair so not sure which I would pick LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying out the Not Your Mothers line and they have some good products! I've never tried their hairspray though!

Don't Kenra products smell amazing?! My hairdresser back in Iowa only used their products, so my hair would smell good for a couple days after. :) My favorite hairspray is the Tressemme extra firm - it comes in a huge black and green bottle and lasts FOREVER. It's dirt cheap, too.
ReplyDeleteI agree, you need multiple hairsprays for different things. The kenra volume 25 is a pretty good stronger hold, I also really like Chi Enviro Hairspray Natural Hold, it works good for the day to day and I can almost always find it at TJ Maxx!
ReplyDeleteI always look at that Not your mother's volumizing spray. I love to use their dry shampoo to add volume! xo
ReplyDeleteThese are both some of my favorite products! Kenra smells so amazing!
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with Tresseme!!!!! Tres Two ultra fine mist is the shit and it's cheap!
ReplyDeleteI've never used any Kenra but I hear they are amazing. I've been a Tresemme hairspray user for years! I love the $3.50 price tag and it's just the right hold without being crunchy haha
ReplyDeleteLooove my Kenra! I get it at cost from my friend/hair stylist but try Amazon and ebay too!
ReplyDeleteI just love the Not Your Mothers line, haven't tried the hairspray yet, tho... Now I want to!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with Big Sexy Hair for hairspray--but sounds like Kenra might give it a run for its money :) I love anything with a good smell that works well!

I love the Not Your Mother's hairspray for teasing - but totally agree with you on the smell. It's definitely not my favorite scent in the world, but I love the volume it gives!

I actually just use good old Suave hairspray. I don't use a ton of hairspray, but for when I do, it does a pretty good job without being too sticky!

Awesome review, I always hate that stiff look hairspray can give so that Kenra spray is right up my alley!

Hairsprays are so hit or miss! I am always trying new ones. I just bought the Big Sexy Hair brand in the red bottle (if that's really what it's called...) and I think it's sticky! Yuck! thanks for sharing these! :)
