This or That #2: Transforming Foundations

Since my weekend was pretty low key and there weren't a lot of moments for pictures, I decided to jump right in today with the This or That Series! Lots of readers seemed to enjoy the past one that I did, so I am excited to do the second one!

This week is focusing on foundations that transform. I have heard and seen on blogs and other places about foundations that start as liquid and change to a powder and the opposite as well. I wanted to try them and see how they worked!

Covergirl Aqua Smoothers Review

Covergirl foundation review

 CoverGirl Aqua Smoothers Foundation

This also made an appearance last week, but I decided to compare it to a foundation that was more like it's kind. This foundation is in solid form, is a liquid form when applying, and then dries to a powder form. The color is "cream natural".

I was really skeptical of this at first. I thought no way this will do what it says, especially for the drugstore price. I was so wrong! I actually love how this goes on and dries. I use my foundation brush, not the foam pad that comes with it. I feel like it blends with my skin really well, and doesn't ever make my skin oily, even after a long 12 hour shift.

Milani cream to powder review

Milani foundation review

Milani - Cream to Powder Foundation

I tried this Milani transforming foundation after I had such luck with the CoverGirl one. I also love their eyeshadows, and have heard great things about their bronzer and blush so decided to give this a go! This color is in "buff".

Whomp whomp! I was not impressed with this at all. I feel like it dries with an alsmot flaky consistency on my skin, and clumps up in certain places. It also clumps on my my foundation brush. I wonder if it would apply better another way, but there is no way i could give up my brush for applying foundation. I just love it too much and it works well for everything else.

I may continue to try this out with different primers for diff combos just because I don't want to waste it, but it definitely won't be a repurchase - which is so disappointing for Milani!

Milani and Covergirl Foundation

I placed a swatch of each in natural light in case you would like to see the difference. In the end, if you are looking for a foundation that transforms, go with the Covergirl Aqua Smoothers!

  1. Oh gosh! That CoverGirl used to me go to in high school! I didn't even know they still made it! I need to swing by a drug store and stock up. I use some Milani but never tried their foundations -- and now I won't. Thanks for the review!

  4. The Cover Girl foundation sounds great, too bad the Milani was a flop. I haven't given any cream to powder foundations a try, when I find something that works it's so hard for me to vary from it, but after hearing you rave about the Cover Girl we'll see!

  7. Good to know! I've never liked the blush or compact I got that Milani made but am always happy with the eye shadow and nail polish. Thinking they skimp a bit to keep their prices down on items you need to be long-lasting!

  8. Definitely like how the covergirl one looks! I've used a Revlon that I liked! But lately, I've been switching back and forth between Clinique and Benefit!
