You know I love when my Ipsy bag arrives in the mail! That little pink package is the best! This month's wasn't my favorite month, but it still had some great products to speak about. May's theme was Beauty's Fresh Picks and was all about looking and feeling fresh this summer!
(PS - Last day to vote on the poll in my sidebar is today! Pretty please help me out!)
Let's start with what I wasn't so in love with.
Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF 50 - I'm all about the sunscreen. I quit using the tanning beds about 2 years ago, and if I'm laying out in the sun I always use it. (This is a "natural" sunscreen). So I wasn't unhappy to get this. Until I opened it and applied it to the back of my hand. The smell was TERRIBLE, and it was so runny it made a huge mess. That immediately turned me off to it, and no way would I spend my money on this.
Olive Lips Lip Balm - I didn't hate this stuff, it just isn't something I would walk up and pick off the shelf of a row of different kinds of lip balms. I think every girl has her favorite lip balm, and this just isn't one of them.
Pur-lisse Moisturizer - I do like this moisturizer. It is actually more like a gel, and doesn't leave my face feeling super greasy. This is a product that I would potentially try again, if it was easy accessible.
La Fresh Makeup Removal Wipes - I really really liked the concept of this, because I have actually been wanting to try using makeup wipes. I have only used it once, and I'm not sure if it was just coincidence or not, but my whole forehead broke out. I totally wasn't expecting that. I do have sensitive skin (I battle eczema in the winter), so maybe this is just an issue for me. I may try using them again, but will probably have to go back to my tried and true Neutrogena for face products.
Pacifica Mineral Eye Shadow - This stuff was the best product in the bag. I got the purple shade, which I liked because it's not a color I try often. The white half was a little bright for me to put over my whole lid, but I use it for a little highlighting in my inner eye. I would buy this product again if I saw it in my Ulta, Beauty Brands, or Sephora. I would be interested to know what other colors they carry!
The above swipes are as follows:
---> Olive Lips (can't really tell that its even on there, maybe this is a plus for you)
---> Hang Ten (running down my hand and all over my table, ew!)
--->Pur-lisse (actually a nice consistency)

i breakout too with those wipes! i have gotten them before and am scared to try again. Totally with you.
ReplyDeleteI love that purple color! I got one with a bronze-y shade.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for makeup wipes, try the ones by Almay. I have used them for years, and to me, they are the best. I have extremely sensitive skin, and they've never caused me to breakout!
ReplyDeleteew to the sunscreen, that sucks! that eyeshadow seriously looks amazing though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your reviews on the Ipsy glam bag! Such a shame the natural sunscreen smelled bad but at least there was some stuff you loved!

So here's my confession regarding sunscreen. I totally steal the sunscreen intended to go on my kids. The reason is because it's always the exact opposite of what they sent you. Because they're expecting a mom to have to rub it on squirming children, it's always a really thick formula. I'm cool with smelling like bubblegum. I still want to try Ipsy, but I keep seeing bags like that where there's *maybe* one item out of all of them that I'd use.

I was kind of jealous of your bag because this time around I wasn't overly excited with what I got. But then I read about you breaking out - hope that was just coincidence and not from the wipes. Eeeshk. The bag itself is definitely adorable though! Carylee | morepiecesofme.com
