February Birchbox - Whomp Whomp!

I'm sad to say it, but this BirchBox has convinced me that I am going to cancel my subscription. I was already starting to get unhappy with the things that I was receiving, but the things inside this months box were disappointing again. I even went in last month and redid my profile, hoping that would help things.
I have two friends who have Ipsy, so I have currently joined the waiting list to receive that box instead. I plan to keep Birchbox until the end of the month, when I can review the products and spend my points that I have saved up. Here is what February's box brought me.
Sarah Potempa Half Up Hair Styler: I have a friend who received this in her box as well, and neither of us can get this to work. And quite honestly, the product looks, feels, and works cheaply. Not impressed.
Miracle Skin Transformer: This is the one product that I may actually like. It claims to nourish skin and leave a photo ready glow. I plan to try this out today - we'll see how it does. The color pigment may be a bit dark for my fair skin, but I am going to attempt it anyway.
Juicy Couture: I am not a perfume fan. I did save the sample, I may get around to using it eventually. But I just don't ever remember to use it. I even have my profile set to not get perfume samples, but this is one of many that I have received.
Whish Body Butter: This product does smell nice, and will use this one as well. It's very thick, something I will probably use on my hands and feet.
Effervescent Breath Crystals: I know a lot of you read about my rant last time I got food in my BirchBox. It's not something that I enjoy or want. If I wanted gum, I would go buy gum. This is a beauty subscription box, not a food box. I would much rather have a plain old chapstick over granola bars, gum, or tea. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Please tell me some of you got better products in your boxes! Besides Ipsy, do you have any other recommendations for beauty boxes?
Happy Monday!

  1. Ugh sorry you're still having a hard time with this box!! I agree on the beauty end - that it should be beauty stuff not food, or bars, or tea!! At least there are two items that you like!!

  3. I would totally be disappointed if I paid all that money and this was what I received. I've never tried Birchbox but maybe thats a good thing...

  6. I'm on the Ipsy wait list too! I don't have a Facebook but I'm considering creating one just to get off the wait list... (I've only been on it for 2 days but I'm super impatient.)

  7. This is my 2nd month with birch box and I got the exact same things! I agree about the hair thing. No matter what I do with it, it just ends up looking like a "C". The breath things are stupid but I put them in the car to try them out after dinner sometime.
The skin transformer is way too dark. Gonna try it in the summer.

    1. I am so glad it wasn't just me who had no idea how to work the hair thing! I did really like the skin transformer, it was my favorite thing in the box! If it weren't so expensive I would buy it again!

  8. This box does look like a bit of a bummer :\ Some months it seems really great and others the complete opposite! Food in a beauty box does seem random/annoying. Hope you have better luck with ipsy :) I've thought about doing one of the julep boxes because I'm such a nail polish fan.

  10. I ended up canceling my Birchbox a little while ago....they kept on sending me nail polish and moroccan hair oil even after I changed my online profile! So annoying :-/

  11. This is why I've held back from getting beauty boxes in the past. I've seen people get some awesome loot from them but I've also seem some real duds! I wish you could pick which samples you want specifically! Even if it was first come first serve or something... I feel like that system would work better.

  12. Such a bummer that birchbox didn't work out for you! Hopefully Ipsy is better. I've never tried any, but that's because I'm worried I wouldn't like the products!

  14. Reasons I never signed up for one. I tried this one for nail polish once for $20 a month and it was SO NOT worth the money. I refuse to do beauty boxes b/c I know I wouldn't use half the "stuff" they send.

  15. Ok so the same thing happened for me with Birchbox - I was SO excited to join, and the first few months were awesome. Then they got progressively worse. I kept getting the same things over and over - it was like I just got whatever was left. I was so disappointed. Then I did a different box for a bit that now I can't even remember what it was (It wasn't Ipsy) and I stopped that. I had a friend do Ipsy for a while, but she didn't love that either (she also did Birchbox). I still do Julep every so often, but I have so much polish now that I have skipped the last few months. I wish there was a really awesome beauty box out there!

    1. I wonder if they do that on purpose?! I am hoping that Ipsy is better, I have several co workers who love it. If it gets boring I'll probably just stop all the boxes!
