Weekend Recap!

Monday again - Blah. Back to work we all go. Such is life. However, I have to say that my weekend was pretty nice. I rarely ever get a Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday off. It seemed like such a long weekend, which is awesome.
Friday, we woke up and ran some errands. But not before we had pancakes. And on a whim I decided to add a little vanilla and almond extract. Aah-mazing. Such a small change and yet such a taste difference. Yum!
Saturday, my sister and her puppy came over. Because of snowmageddon (see a previous post of mine), her and her fiancee had been without water for 3 days and then discovered a gas leak. So they came to our house for break. Only to have our power go out as well. I have never been so grateful for my husband's obsession with Yankee Candle.
Luckily, it was only out for about 2 hours - some people went 48 hours without theirs. The temp outside has since come up to 40 degrees, and the snow is mostly gone. I'm not much of a snow person, so I can't say I'm sad about the lack of wintery look. Plus, we really need to take out outside lights down.
We also went to the pet store and got Ollie a new toy. Let me first say this - there is not a toy that Ollie has not destroyed. Ever. Most toys don't even survive a day. Some really good ones last maybe a month. We bought this toy on the premise that it is "tiger tested". We shall see. The edges of it are already frayed after a day or two.
On Friday, I posted my five on Friday about pinspiration. I posted a particular picture that several of my readers encouraged me to try and copy. I decided to take on this challenge, since one of my goals is to get better at outfit posts. Here is the original picture with mine beside it. I only wish that I had a mustard colored cardigan, but I don't so I settled for red. A mustard cardigan will definitely be on my future shopping list!

She wore a long sleeve shirt under the chambray shirt and cardigan, but our church can be a bit warm, so I stuck with a tank. Of course, I took these pictures before I put my jewelery on - oops. Note to self for next time.

 Cardigan: Target
Chambray Top: Target
Tank: Charlotte Russe
Jeans: Forever 21
Boots: Dottie Couture
I am hoping that I can get more "professional" outfit posts in the future, but I think this is a start on the resolution. I definitely learned a lot about what to do and not do next time just from this one attempt, so here's to hoping for good luck in the future!
Happy Monday everyone!

  6. So obnoxious about the power! Glad yours wasn't out for too long! When I was home for Christmas and everyone had power outages one of my aunts lent my cousin their generator because they had power and like two hours later their power went out as well!

I love the layered look! Can't wait to see more outfit posts!

  12. Your outfit turned out so cute! I love it! Normally I get these fantastic ideas on Pinterest and they flop if I can't find the exact pieces from the picture! Josh is embarrassed to admit it, but he LOVES Bath&Body Works candles. I just yelled to him that he isn't the only man that loves candles and he begged me not to blog that he does (opps!)
