A not-so-planned tutorial

I had no idea yesterday what I was going to post about today. I didn't really have any ideas, and we didn't go do anything exciting. I even contemplated not posting today at all and just waiting until Wednesday.
We woke up - and by woke up, I mean our nightshift morning, at about 4pm - wierd, I know. But we immediately had to deal with some issues with Microsoft before they closed. Don't even get me started on that, what a mess!! We ended up just returning the product, and will be going with Apple from here on out. With that disaster taken care of, we decided to eat at one of our favorite hole in the wall pizza places, Barlo's. We've eaten there since we first started dating, and love to go back. Since we had some extra time and were in no hurry, I decided to experiment a little bit with my hair.
First, let me tell you about my hair. It's thin, wavy when it air dries, and loves to get frizzy and hates to stay curled. It also gets oily in between washes. But I use dry shampoo in between and only wash my hair every other day.
This week, I decided to see if I can go every 3 days before washing it instead of every 2. Everything I have read says that the "dirtier" your hair is the easier it style. So I decided to experiment and try curling it and see how long it would stay. Wah-lah!

I love the loose curled look; I have never been a fan of the big ringlet curls. Plus, no way my hair is long enough for bigger curls than this. And I am happy to say they held ALL. DAY. LONG. This is definitely something that I will be attempting more during the week.
I'm not even sure that I am the girl to be giving a tutorial on hair styles, because I am not sure there are too many people who want my hair anyway. But you're getting one anyway people. Here is what I used!
Curly Hair Tutorial
Clean Freak Dry Shampoo from Not Your Mother's - This is new to me, but love it so far. It was easy to style with. It makes my hair just a tad stiff at first, but that works out as you work it through your hair.
Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Hair Spray - Love this brand, and I have used this for a while. I also use their root pump when I remember. This holds the curls in, but doesn't leave crunchiness behind.
Umberto Shine Spray - I spray this on after I am all done styling and after the hair spray. It adds the shine and workability back to my hair that the dry shampoo takes out of it.
Conair Curling Iron - I'm pretty sure I bought this at Target for like, $20. It's just a plain cheap curling iron, nothing fancy.
Paddle Brush - When I use this dry shampoo, I feel like a paddle brush works the product trough my hair better than a regular comb. I think this one is also just a cheap one from Meijer.
No Crease Head Band - No idea where this is from, because I lifted it off my sis. But it holds my hair back great and doesn't give me a headache. I wouldn't say its completely creaseless, but it leaves less of a crease than other bands I have used, and who are we kidding I love pink.
So there's your not-so-planned tutorial for the week. It's a style I'll definitely be doing again! I'll leave you with this pic - we had cinnamon rolls for breakfast the other morning, and I got to them second. My first thought was "you know its true love when your husband leaves you the middle cinnamon roll". And boy was it yum :)

  12. Its so true that waiting longer makes curls hold better! I have only ever done 2 days... 3 days just seems so long! But i know some people who only wash their hair once a week!

  18. It's so funny to hear about your nightshift timing- waking up and eating "breakfast" at your favorite pizza place! Your hair looks gorgeous! Sadly, I still can't work a curling iron without either getting my hair tangled in the clamp or burning the heck out of my hand!
