This is what inspired this post today.
I woke up to find that Ollie had attempted to open his presents. Only his. I will admit that he is a smart dog. But a hyper one. So I thought, I'll put a stop to this so that I can get some stuff done, and he will sleep! I gave him a bed time snack, I gave him a bath with calming lavender soap. And then I tucked him into his bed. Or our couch that he thinks is his bed. And it worked! Just like a kid on Christmas Eve. Well, it worked for about 2 hours. Then he was awake again. But I did get my house cleaned and presents wrapped without him whining on my heels.
To keep this post all about puppies, I thought I would share with you two recent products that I purchased for our trouble maker. Both are from Pet Supplies Plus - our favorite dog store to go to.
I had no idea Burt's Bees even made things for dogs. But I was looking for something to put into Ollie's ears to keep them clean. Does anyone else's labs ears get so dirty? I honestly don't know how he does it, but they are filthy all the time. So we have a routine. I clean his ears about once a week. I have some special serum to put in his ears from the vet if they are ever red. But I wanted something more for after he gets them wet in the snow, a bath, etc. And I found this! Its mint and witch hazel to keep the inside of the ear dry. It smells amazing! That's the best part. I was worried the mint would annoy Ollie (smells like that do). But he doesn't seem to mind. It works so well, and I have added it to our weekly ear cleaning routine!
After walking and playing in the snow - and even the concrete in the summer - his paw pads get so rough! It probably bothers me more than him, but I bought some anyway. I had actually been looking for this forever before I finally found it. All you have to do is take the top off, and dip his paw into the tin. It protects his paws and acts like a lotion too. It also helps in the winter to keep the salt away that gets spread on the sidewalks. The salt is really hard on their paws. Ollie doesn't like this very well, but I make him use it anyway.
Can you tell our pup is a little spoiled?! What are your weekly puppy routines?
