DIY Classy Pumpkins

When I started decorating for fall, I knew I wanted decorations that I could keep up from October until December. I'm not sure if this is called smart or lazy. After much pinteresting for inspiration, I decided to go with a white and glitter theme. I wanted clean simple lines, and I wanted it to match decor that I already had. And as usual, I didn't want to break the bank. So I came up with these little guys.
Classy White Fall Decorations
They match perfect with the banner that I made previously. My other goal was to make something I could keep year after year. I debated at first painting real pumpkins, but I decided in the end to make something that would last. Also, our puppy has a habit of chewing on real pumpkins, so I saved myself some trouble down the road. Why do dogs like pumpkin so much?! Here we go!

You will need:
-3 paper pumpkins (I found mine at meijer) $20
-paint ( I used a cream color, not white) $0.50
-foam paint brush $1
-glitter spray paint (I used silver) $4

Surprisingly, Hobby Lobby and Micheal's didn't have affordable paper pumpkins. What they wanted was unreal. So I went into my backup craft department (Meijer), and was happy to find them.
First, you'll need to paint the pumpkins. Mine took three coats apiece. That paper really does soak up the paint. You could use spray paint for this part too, however I wanted mine to have more of a rough look that showed some paint strokes. Let the last coat completely dry.
Then use the glitter spray paint. Again, I used three coats if not more. You don't have to wait for them to completely dry in between. The glitter spray paint was a lot less messy than I was expecting so that was a plus. I debated using fine glitter and sprinkling it on, but after using the spray I am so glad I went with the spray. So much less mess!

Here is your finished product! Ignore the light glare - there was no good way to get it out of the picture.

I love how they turned out! You can find my burlap banner tutorial here. These pumpkins would have also looked great with gold glitter in hind sight. Any color really to match what you want.
How have you used pumpkins in your decorating?
